Ghislaine “Qi Dada” Jean, artist, activist, coach and entrepreneur, will be our final 2015 General Meeting speaker of the year.
Jean is one-half of the hip-hop duo, Riders Against the Storm, with the other half being her husband. In 2005, the goal of the group was to simply create art and support the activist community in New England. Today, they hold the title of Austin Music Awards’ “Band of the Year” for the past two years.
“I realize the kind of relationship we have might drive most people up the wall, but our relationship is heavenly,” Jean says of having her husband as a business partner. “It took a great deal of work to cultivate. We had to learn our strengths and our positions on another level.”
A descendant from Haiti, Jean says her rich history has impacted the globe. She intends to continue making history by becoming the first female Haitian-American to win a Grammy.
As a woman who has beaten the odds, she encourages and coaches others to do the same.
“Stop thinking about the odds. Erase them,” she says. “They mean nothing to you. You are the power—exist and operate as such.”
Jean teaches women to be explosive in different areas of their life through classes, consulting and encouragement. You can learn more about her business at www.knowopenings.com.
