Why did you join YWA?
I joined YWA because I wanted to meet a bunch of like-minded, educated women who were passionate about similar things (e.g. volunteering, getting involved in their community, developing personal/professional skills, etc.) It’s totally paid off so far! Getting to know everyone has opened my eyes to all the cool personal and professional opportunities in Austin.
Tell me something about yourself that most other members might not know.
I have owned my current vehicle (a 1994 Acura Integra) for 15 years! I bought it in 2000 and its got over 210,000 miles on it. Everyone tells me to get a new car but I can’t imagine parting with it. 🙂
Favorite personal story or experience:
Definitely the group grant review sessions – spending time with friends, eating pizza/bagels and drinking wine while learning about these awesome local projects was so much fun. I learned a ton about other nonprofits during the process and felt like the diverse backgrounds everyone brought to the review sessions really made it a fun and rewarding experience. I love opportunities to hang out with each other while doing great work!
