OCTOBER BOARD MEMBER OF THE MONTH: BLAIRE CLAUSE

November 7, 2014Krystal Bordner

Name: Blaire Clause
Occupation: Senior Marketing Associate & Nike Trainer/Ambassador
Place of Work: W2O Group & Nike
Years in Austin: 7

Why did you initially join YWA? After graduating UT, I wanted to continue to improve my personal and professional journey while also giving back to the community- YWA fulfilled just that plus more. I now have also gained a wonderful group of supportive and inspirational friends.

You are the VP’s of the Marketing Committee. What made you want to lead this committee? Marketing involves strategy, creativity and project management which is why I enjoy my marketing position in my professional career so much. It felt natural to bring my professional experience to YWA in hopes of continuing to grow and strengthen both the organization and the brand.

What are you most excited to accomplish in the 2014 – 2015 year? I’m most excited about taking the FFC challenge- it enables me to strengthen my fundraising skills and it’s inspiring to watch the YWA community work together to raise funds for such an important cause. The marketer in me is also very excited about our new website and building out the blog since these are our owned properties that allow a deeper dive into who we are as an organization.

What is something that you have learned about yourself through your involvement with YWA? I’ve learned many things but a key takeaway that has stuck with me is the power of networking. There is much value in expanding your network- it is a gateway to grow professionally and personally.

Tell us something you are most proud of. I’m proud of practicing good time management and successfully fulfilling 3 jobs. I’ve become much more aware of how I spend my time and that has made all the difference. I’m able to fulfill my interests in marketing and business, fitness, and leadership through my involvement at W2O Group, Young Women’s Alliance, and as a Nike NTC Trainer.

Do you have a bucket list? If so what’s on it? Yes, of course! Some items at the top include but are not limited to the following: Act on stage in an Austin theatre or film, grow my family’s nonprofit group, The H.E.A.R.T. program, hike the Yosemite Park, and of course travel, travel, travel.

How did you end up in Austin? The University of Texas brought me here and I didn’t want to leave after I graduated. I wanted to experience this vibrant city as a young professional, outside of college. Hook ’em!
