As a result of our fundraising & membership efforts, since 2011, the Young Women’s Alliance has:
Support for the FWLF is provided by the fundraising efforts of our members during our annual peer to peer fundraising campaign, proceeds from the Austin Under 40 Awards, YWA on the Fairway, our annual Beautifully Made fundraiser, and by generous donations from individuals and corporations in our community.
Investments made to the FWLF will help YWA to further our mission of creating connections and opportunities for aspiring young women, girls, and non-binary folks to become tomorrow’s leaders.
Programming that the Future Women Leaders Fund supports:
The YWA scholarship program is a key component for the organization to give back to our community. By improving access to post-secondary attainment, we are a part of the systemic change needed to create a more equitable future for young women.
YWA supports professional development of our members through our monthly Speaker Series as well as other professional development workshops. These events allow for our members to build their networks, learn about the experiences of women in leadership roles and gain valuable skills they can take back to the workplace. Notable prior topics and workshops include, but are not limited to, negotiating salary, creating an effective LinkedIn presence, money management & investing, and building a successful business.
YWA Connect was created with one goal in mind: To connect women who are established community leaders and professionals with YWA members to help empower the next generation of female leaders. Through this program, we aim to give both our Mentors and Mentees the resources needed to grow professionally and personally.
Every year, YWA awards a grant to a local non-profit partner who aligns to our mission & values. In recent years, we have focused our giving on the Girls Empowerment Network (GEN), who shares our mission of providing women and girls with the tools they need to reach their full potential. Other non-profit organizations who have received grants from YWA in the past include Dress for Success and GirlStart.
Endowment Fund
YWA’s endowment fund was created through the generous donations made during our annual peer to peer fundraising campaign as well as the proceeds from Austin Under 40. The endowment is managed by Austin Community Foundation and provides additional revenue to the Future Women Leaders Fund. These gifts will help to grow our scholarships, increase our annual grant, and expand member programming.
Discounted YWA Memberships for Women with Financial Need
To remove barriers to accessing the career-building opportunities that YWA provides to our members, we offer a membership discount to women who have financial need and genuine barriers to access. Details can be found on our membership page. To learn more about YWA’s Diversity, Equity, and Belonging initiatives, click here.
The YWA endowment can be supported throughout the year by individual gifts in addition to the fundraising efforts of YWA members. Make a contribution today!
