At YWA, we believe that we must be both intentional and strategic in how we help to break down the barriers that stand in the way of our future women leaders as they pursue their goals.
A key way for YWA to give back to our community, our Future Women Leaders Scholarship, is designed to improve access to higher education for these future leaders and in turn be a part of the systemic change necessary to create a more equitable future for young women+.
Application Process
Open to graduating Del Valle High School seniors pursuing a post-secondary education at any accredited trade school, two-year associate’s program, or four-year college in the United States, this scholarship helps address inequities while investing in the Austin area’s future leaders.
Any young woman+ regardless of gender identity, racial/ethnic background, immigration status, income level, and ability is invited to apply. Each scholarship will be awarded for up to eight semesters with the goal of supporting these young women+ throughout their entire higher education journey.
Applications for the 2026 scholarship program will open in December 2025.
LENS Mentorship Program
1:1 Support for Scholarship Winners
In addition to receiving the scholarship, winners will also join the YWA LENS Mentorship Program, a personalized 1:1 mentorship with an established YWA member who will help support them throughout their academic journey.
Through monthly check-ins and resources, this mentorship program will provide comprehensive support that helps these future leaders transition first to college life then to the start of their careers, while providing guidance that helps them to hit their goals along the way.

Promise Scholarship
Enhancing Support Through Graduation
One of the ways that YWA is committed to helping past recipients of the Future Women Leaders Scholarship pursue their goals is through the Promise Scholarship, which provides additional financial support for everything from studying abroad, unpaid internships, conferences, and extracurricular activities.
We invite past scholarship winners to apply for these funds that are intended to promote out-of-classroom experiences that enhance leadership skills, expand personal networks, and provide service opportunities.
Applications are open on a rolling basis. Previous YWA scholars can apply here.

Howdy! I am Alondra Gutierrez, a graduating senior at Del Valle High School. I enjoy baking, going on walks, and exploring new places in Austin. I plan to attend Texas A&M at College Station to major in political science and then law school to ultimately become a lawyer and continue making a change in my community. With assistance and support from my two college counselors, my little brother, and Jana Ramchander—who was always more than just a social worker, I am truly grateful to have been selected as a recipient of the Young Women’s Alliance Scholarship.Alondra Gutierrez

Hi friends! My name is Ginny Benitez Perez, I am a first-generation, soon-to-be college student with plans to attend Texas State University in the upcoming fall semester. I hope to graduate with a degree in nursing to be able to help out everyone in the community—from big to small. My favorite thing to do on the weekend is hang out with family and friends and go to church! In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors by walking my dog or riding horses! I am deeply grateful for being selected as a recipient of the 2025 Young Women’s Alliance scholarship. This opportunity not only opens doors but also allows me to continue to focus on my educational journey without having to deal with financial stress. Being first generation means challenges will arise, but with the help of the Young Women’s Alliance, I know I have an incredible group of people I can count on! I would like to thank God and my family for the continuous guidance, love, and support. As well as Mr. Shoemacher and Jeanett for allowing me to have a great opportunity that opened a new point of view for me. Once again, thank you so much for selecting me as a scholarship recipient and new member of the Young Women’s Alliance. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!Ginny Benitez Perez

Hey y’all! My name is Maritza Aragon Rios, a 2025 senior at Del Valle HS, and an incoming freshman at UT Austin! I am majoring in Architectural Engineering because of my combined interest in architecture and love for mathematics. I am extremely thankful for being a recipient of the 2025 Young Women’s Alliance scholarship this year. Pursuing higher education would not have been possible for me without so many people’s generosity. I want to not only thank my counselors who gave me guidance, but also all of my professors and teachers alike who kept my love for learning alive.Maritza Aragon Rios
