The Future Women Leaders Scholarship: Empowering Tomorrow’s Women Leaders:
We are thrilled to announce the Future Women Leaders Scholarship, dedicated to the graduating seniors of Del Valle High School (DVHS) who are ready to embark on their educational journey at any accredited trade school, two-year associate’s program, or four-year college in the US.
This scholarship is an inclusive opportunity, open to all young women at DVHS, embracing every gender identity, racial and ethnic background, immigration status, income level, and ability. Our mission is to support these inspiring young women through up to eight semesters of higher education, ensuring they have the resources they need to achieve their dreams.
In partnership with Del Valle ISD, we are tackling the disparities within the Austin metro area, investing in the bright futures of our community’s next generation of women leaders.
In 2023, YWA deepened our commitment to this cause by awarding $10,000 scholarships to deserving scholars. Looking ahead to May 2025, we are excited to continue this tradition by awarding four more $10,000 scholarships. Join us in supporting the future trailblazers of Austin!
Promise Scholarship: Enhancing Support Through College Graduation
At YWA, we believe in supporting our scholars beyond the classroom. The Promise Scholarship is designed for past recipients of the Future Women Leaders Scholarship, offering additional funds to enrich their educational journey.
This scholarship supports a variety of invaluable experiences, including students who are participating in study abroad programs, unpaid internships, industry conferences, and extracurricular activities. These opportunities are crafted to enhance leadership skills, expand personal networks, and provide meaningful service experiences, ensuring our scholars thrive both academically and personally.
By investing in these out-of-the-classroom experiences, we are dedicated to fostering well-rounded, empowered leaders who will make a lasting impact in their communities and beyond.
Serve: Giving Back to Our Community
At YWA, one of our foundational pillars is Serve, dedicated to giving back to the community that has supported our growth and success. We are proud to organize multiple monthly volunteer events in collaboration with our incredible partner organizations, which fall into two categories.
Mission-Aligned Partners: These partners share our commitment to empowering women and girls. Our events with these organizations include mentorship sessions with the Girls’ Empowerment Network, assisting in the planetarium with Girlstart, and sorting diapers and packing period products at the Austin Diaper Bank. Together, we are making a tangible impact on the lives of women+ and girls in our community.
Austin Community Partners: These are essential non-profits that embody the spirit of Austin. Our volunteer opportunities with these partners are diverse and rewarding, ranging from spending a morning gardening at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, packing meals at the Central Texas Food Bank, to walking rescue dogs at the Austin Animal Center. These experiences not only benefit the community but also enrich the lives of our members.
Through these partnerships and events, YWA is committed to fostering a culture of service, making a difference in our beloved Austin community.
