Mentor and mentee applications for the 2018-2019 YWA Connect
YWA Connect was created with one goal in mind: To connect women who are established community leaders and professionals with YWA Members to help create the next generation of female leaders. Through this program, we aim to give both our Mentors and Mentees the resources needed to grow professionally and personally.
Founded in 2012, this exclusive program has grown from five initial Connect pairs to a total of more than 70 Mentors and Mentees last program year. Within the last two years, we’ve added a Mentorship Training Program, Mentor/Mentee networking events, and a YWA Facebook group to help YWA Connect participants to learn from each other.
If selected to participate in this program, YWA Connect participants can look forward to:
- Meticulously selected mentor/mentee pairings;
- Access to a network of some of the most successful and prominent women in the Austin community;
- Ongoing professional development and leadership education;
- Three YWA Connect-branded networking events, including a YWA kick-off party and training for mentors and mentees, a YWA Connect networking and social event, and a closing event; and
- Access to the YWA Connect Facebook group, which contains articles, books, suggestions, and discussions from other mentors and mentees.

Long ago I was moved by the expression, ‘Each one, teach one.’ The beauty of the YWA Mentorship Program is that it works both ways. The more I teach, the more I learn. When you talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk and I am honored to be walking with such a bright, motivated, skilled individual as Rebekah Epstein. We agreed that to get the most from the program we would meet weekly and share our successes, our challenges and encourage each other to take the necessary steps to move our business forward – even when it is scary. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect pairing.Korey Howell
The YWA Mentorship Program has been a game changer for me and my business. Korey (my mentor) and I hit it off right away, which has made it easy to get to know each other. As a small business owner, it is sometimes hard to know what to do next. Since Korey has owned her business for over 25 years, she has been able to give me direction and ideas that I would have never thought before. Most importantly, she holds me accountable. For example, after discussing it, Korey encouraged me to ask my clients for a raise. Normally, I would have procrastinated. However, since we set a deadline, I was forced to do it, and they all said “yes”. I am grateful to YWA for providing such a great mentor; I think we will be friends for many years to come.Rebekah Epstein
